Our Mission

At 3D Interactive Lineup, our mission is to transform eyewitness identification using advanced 3D technology.

By creating immersive, interactive tools, we enhance the accuracy and reliability of police lineups, contributing to fairer outcomes in the criminal justice system for both witnesses and suspects.

How It All Started

At 3D Interactive Lineup (3DIL), we’re dedicated to solving the problems caused by traditional eyewitness identification methods. In 2015, researchers from the Applied Memory Lab and partner universities recognised that static photo lineups were often contributing to errors in suspect identification.

To address this, 3DIL was developed in 2017, giving witnesses the ability to rotate and view suspects from multiple angles, closely mirroring real-life viewing conditions.

3DIL has been shown to improve identification accuracy across all demographics, including children, while reducing racial bias in suspect recognition.

Our mission is to create a fairer, more reliable process for identifying suspects, ensuring better outcomes for everyone involved.
